Servicing Perth and moves
between Perth and Rural WA.
When it comes to finding a professional removalist in Perth, residents are spoilt for choice. We’re certain however that the level of friendly service we provide won’t be found at any other company. We’re here for families as our staff understands how time consuming and daunting a big move can be. Ultimately, our affordability and the genuine care we offer each customer is what makes us a leader in house moving services Perth wide.
You might have heard this one before, but it’s true. Finding a cost-effective and reliable moving company, organising the stuff in the attic/garage/shed and putting a whole house into boxes takes a lot of time. De-cluttering can be done well in advance – go to the dump, donate it to charity or sell it online. There’s no point in packing stuff you don’t even want.
It’s easy to for it to slip your mind, but you’ll be kicking yourself when that important piece of post doesn’t arrive. About two weeks before the move, arrange for your post to be forwarded, register your change of address with companies (especially the bank!), and tell family and friends.
This is something that is much better to have than not need – accidents can happen. Many moving companies provide insurance as part of their service, but if not, check if your contents insurance will cover damage and breakages for a move.
There are two parts to this. First, stop buying anything new at least a week before you move use up everything in the freezer, and leave at least a day to dry your fridge out. You’ll have less to throw away, too. At the other end, you’ll have so much unpacking to do that you won’t want to drag yourself to the supermarket. But nowadays, you can just order it online. Just make sure that if you order anything chilled that the fridge/freezer is back up and running!
The bigger the truck, the less likely it is that it will just be able to pull up and unload. And it’s courteous to let your neighbours (old and new) know it’ll be there, too.
Events such as music festivals or sports games can jam the roads. Try to avoid moving around those days and times.
This might not always be possible, but if you can, clean the new house before you move in, take meter readings, and check that all the light-bulbs are there. It could save you tons of hassle.
You can find packing tips by the truck load, but the main thing here is to be organized. Whether you write on the boxes, number them or cover them in coloured tape, make sure you know what needs to go where at the other end, and if it’s breakable. Consider labeling some “non-urgent” to put in a spare room to unpack later – these should go into the moving truck first, and furniture last so it can go in the new house first. Keep important documents with you and pack an essentials box/bag with toiletries, toilet paper, coffee/tea, kettle, and some clothes. Other useful items are a torch, a first-aid kit, and Ziploc bags.
You have to do this eventually, but it’s great to have it finished as soon as you can. Then, when you can’t face unpacking any more, you can just collapse into bed, no more effort necessary. Alternatively you can get us to arrange your packing and unpacking needs.
The most important place to keep your address up-to-date is with the government. The exact process varies from county to county and state to state, so it’s useful to look it up ahead of time. You don’t have to do it straight away, but it’s best to get it done sooner rather than later.
